Bellmore, NY - History, Real Estate, and Things to Do

Are you curious about Bellmore and what it’s like to live in this lively suburb? Let’s talk about things to do in Bellmore, its real estate market, and why you should consider moving to Long Island this year.

History of Bellmore

Bellmore is a town with rich history and cultural significance. It was once known as Little Neck before being settled by English settlers crossing the area from Connecticut in the 1650s. As the area started to develop and the first American farmers purchased land in present-day Bellmore, railroad construction began and communities started to thrive.

In 1900, the town was officially renamed to Bellmore with the first post office established in the area. By early 1920, Bellmore’s population grew to over 3,000 and stores began opening their doors to meet the demand of new foot traffic from Bellmore residents. In the years following, Bellmore has continuously grown its population and remains one of the most desirable areas in Long Island.
